Explore More of Biltmore's "8,000-Acre Backyard"
If horses aren't your thing, don't worry. The Explore Biltmore Estate Outdoor Center offers plenty of other adventures on the 8,000-acre property. All outdoor activities are available by reservation to estate daytime guests, Biltmore Estate passholders, and Inn on Biltmore Estate guests. Estate admission is required.
Biking
Rent or bring your own bike and enjoy miles of challenging trails for experienced mountain bikers, easy paved trails following the French Broad River and woodland trails that wind through quiet forests and wildflower meadows.
• Children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult
• Youth 15–17 must have an adult sign their liability release
• Trail access is limited and weather dependent

Carriage Rides
Enjoy a 45-minute horse-drawn carriage ride with spectacular views of Biltmore House.
• Available year round 11:00 am–3:00 pm daily
• $35.00 per guest; ages five and younger free with paying adult

Hiking
Enjoy miles of the estate's favorite walking trails including:
• Guided garden walks available in spring and fall (fee required)
• Creekside Trail follows a stream through a grove of hemlocks, pines, beech, rhododendrons and bald cypress
• Meadow Trail features spectacular pond views and trails teeming with meadow wildflowers
• Bass Pond Trail features scenic views with a variety wildlife including ducks, great blue herons, kingfishers, muskrats, and beavers
• Woodland Trail follows an old farm wagon road through woodlands, a 50-plus-foot wooden bridge, a spring-fed brook, the Azalea Garden and paths lush with rhododendrons
River Float Trips and Kayaking
Explore the scenery of the French Broad River as it winds through the estate with a guide or at your own pace:
• Seasonal trips offered in spring, summer and fall
• Guided float trips available 10:00 am and 3:30 pm in season
• Self-guided float trips available 12:00 noon, 1:30 pm, 3:00 pm
• Guided trips $25.00 per guest
• Self-guided trips $20.00 per guest
• Children must be at least three years old and 35 lbs
